Red Is The Color of My Hand by Jenny Lee

"Red Is the Color of My Hand" by Jenny Lee
"Working outside the realm of traditional beauty, Jenny Lee is one of Denver's profoundly different and extremely talented artists, whose work is not only disturbing, but sensual and alluring at the same time." - Douglas Seaton

Orchids...visually they are beautiful, delicate, simple, yet complex flowers and the symbolism behind the surface is strong and versatile. They symbolize perfection, love, lust, sexuality and beauty, just to name a few. These flowers are without a doubt my favorite of all because their appearance and their symbolic power have a way of relating to life in a way that I admire

I chose to name this show "Bleeding Orchids" because it scratches the surface of my life over the past few years. It reflects some of the struggles I've had to face without giving away the details, which are very personal and private (and will remain so). The body of work in this show is not meant to be blatant tell-tales to those struggles, but rather they are a symbolic reflection of my emotional experiences.

As always with my works, I ask the viewer to interpret the pieces the way they may relate them to their own personal experiences. I offer no interpretations because I prefer to provoke personal thoughts, not plant specific ones.

-Jenny Lee (on her recent show at Th'Ink Tank Tattoo & Gallery)

Brad Keech & Pressure Printing

Two examples of the quality of work put forth by Brad Keech of Pressure Printing (top right & left: The Owl Addict by Camille Rose Garcia; bottom right & left: The Oceanid by Glenn Barr - both of these editions are SOLD OUT)

"Brad Keech has done for modern printmaking what William Morris did for design during the 1800's. Techniques both reinvented and reembraced define the outstanding work of Brad Keech. And much like the work of Morris, his work stands unrivaled in beauty."
- Douglas Seaton

Editions by Pressure Printing combine hand craftsmanship, tradition and theraw imagination of contemporary Pop Surrealism. Centuries-old technique and equipment meld with extraordinary modern imagery, design, and superiorcraftsmanship to create unique fine art editions, exceptional both in quality and kind. Made into cherished fine art objects, the editions showcase images by renowned artists like Mark Ryden, Camille Rose Garcia, Glenn Barr, Jeff Soto, Coop, Gary Baseman, Dave Cooper, Jim Woodring, Daniel Martin Diaz and Tony Millionaire. Not only is the viewer enticed into the riotous world of these artists through the exquisite imagery, but the unique presentation and quality of the editions invite one¹s tactile engagement as well, delving the viewer further into an alternate reality.

Every Pressure Printing edition is a collaboration between the artist and Brad Keech. Together they come up with the idea and vision for a project. The artist creates original drawings exclusively for the editions. These drawings are then made into plates and meticulously printed on paper carefully selected and often hand made especially for the projects. A number of intaglio and relief printing methods create these editions; however, editions are primarily printed on an Albion handpress built circa 1854. Weighing 3,000 pounds and made entirely of cast iron, this beautiful press is the symbol of the unique intertwining of old and new that characterizes Pressure Printing.

The quality in detail and craftsmanship with which the prints are presented and packaged is superb. Constructing each entirely by hand, Pressure Printing utilizes traditional bookbinding, embossing, and printing techniques as well as modern craft and technology to compose the editions. Brad designs all of the packaging and works with many specialists in the production of these projects. From gold gilding and handmade frames, to die cutting and foil stamping, to handmade paper and portfolios, the Pressure Printing editions involve the time-honored skills of many disciplines.

About Brad Keech
Brad Keech started Pressure Printing as a way to collaborate with and promote the artwork of amazing artists he most admires. He has been professionally involved in the graphic art world for over twenty years and has been block printing since he was a child. Brad's passion for fine and unusual art combined with a need to print compelled him to start Pressure Printing in 2000 with the goal of creating unique and sought-after print editions of the finest quality possible. Offering a unique service, Brad has found it extremely rewarding to be creatively involved with these artists rather than solely as a retailer or collector.
